VIVA – Saudi Arabia has lifted the policy about its citizens who were banned to Indonesia on Tuesday, June 7, 2022. The Indonesian government very much welcomes the decision of the Saudi authorities regarding the new policy.
"Indonesia welcomes the decision of the Saudi authorities to lift the travel ban policy for Saudi citizens to Indonesia," the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia wrote on Twitter, Tuesday, June 7, 2022.
Previously, Saudi Arabia banned its citizens from traveling to Indonesia in July 2021 due to the outbreak of the pandemic and the spread of a new mutated strain of the Covid-19 virus. It also urged all Saudis who were present in Indonesia at that time to return home immediately.
Saudi Arabian authorities banned their citizens from traveling to 16 countries including Indonesia due to COVID-19 cases in those countries, said the Saudi Arabian Directorate General of Passports, Jawazat.
The list of 16 countries that Saudi Arabia has banned from visiting its citizens are Lebanon, Turkey, Syria, Iran, Afghanistan, India, Yemen, Somalia, Ethiopia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Libya, Vietnam, Indonesia, Armenia, Belarus and Venezuela.
Jawazat said that the validity period of Saudi passports to be taken to non-Arab countries must be more than six months. Jawazat also explained the travel requirements of Saudis abroad on his Twitter.
According to the statement, the validity period of the passport must be more than three months for the territory of Arab countries. Meanwhile, for citizens who travel to other Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, the validity period of their ID cards must be more than three months.
Jawazat said that the soft copy of the national ID on the Absher and Tawakalna apps was not enough for trips to GGC states.
Regarding health requirements, Saudis who are outside the country must receive three doses of the vaccine or not pass three months after taking the second dose of vaccine.
