VIVA – Military training in South Korea is mandatory for every male citizen before their 30s. Idols are no exception even on the sidelines of their busy life in entertainment unless they have a valid reason that exempts them from the military.
Every year, there will be groups that enter and there are also those who leave the military. Generally, military service lasts about 2 years with various placements and different assignments.
The middle of 2022 is the moment that K-Pop fans have been waiting for. Here are 10 K-Pop idols who will complete their mandatory military service in 2022:
1. Teen Top’s Ricky
Ricky from Teen Top joined the military on January 18, 2021. After completing his basic military training. Ricky served with the military band. He is expected to be discharged from the military in July 2022.
2. The Rose’s Hajoon
One of the multi talented idols, Hajoon from The Rose has been serving in the military since October 12, 2022. Hajoon joined the Air Force Military band and is set to conclude his military in July 2022.
3. BlockB’s Park Kyung
Park Kyung was initially scheduled to complete his mandatory military service in April 2022. However, his return was delayed due to his declining health, so he had to be transferred from an active-duty soldier to a public service worker.
4. The Rose’s Jaehyung
Jehyung from The Rose is the band’s last member to have started his military duties on November 9, 2020. He will finish his military in August 2022.
5. INFINITE’s L Kim Myung Soo

L or Kim Myung Soo from INFINITE joined the military at February 22, 2021. After completing his five-week basic training, he carried out his service as an active soldier in the Marine Corps. He was part of the cast of “Meissa’s Song,” a military musical. He will be released in August 2022.
6. Pentagon’s Hui
The group’s leader started his military on February 18, 2021. To receive his basic military training, he joined the Nonsan Army Recruit Training Center in South Chungcheong Province. He shall finish his service by November 2022.
7. EXO’s Chanyeol

Chanyeol from EXO joined the military on March 29, 2021. He was assigned to a unit to serve as an active-duty soldier.
He joined the cast of the military musical “Meissa’s Song in which he played the main role. He will be discharged in late September 2022.
8. DAY 6’s Sungjin
Sungjin from DAY 6 ever surprised the fans or is usually called as Myday because he suddenly joined the military. On March 8, 2021, he held a V LIVE broadcast to share the news with Myday and show his buzz cut. He is supposed to return in early September 2022.
9. Teen Top’s C.A.P
C.A.P is the third Teen Top member to enlist for military service. Following Ricky, C.A.P will complete all his military duties in early November 2022.
10. SHINee’s Taemin

Taemin from SHINee joined the military last year on May 31 and officially served in the military band following his basic training.
However, Taemin experienced anxiety and depression that forced his transfer on January 14, 2022 to public service in order to continue his military duties. Taemin’s release is expected in November 2022.
