VIVA – Based on the calendar from the Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA) Formula E, DKI Jakarta will hold Formula E in 2023, even though it is scheduled for two times in the ninth season on June 3 to 4, 2021 at the Ancol circuit, North Jakarta.
Vice President of Communications for the Jakarta 2022 Formula E Organizing Committee, Iman Syafei, said that it was possible for the race to be held during the day and at night.
"They (FIA Formula E) have issued a temporary calendar, so the ball is with us. Then, the two days are two series. So, there are indeed two different race series. Indeed, there is the possibility of a night race”, Iman Syafei said.
Although there are already two calendars in 2023, Iman added that his team has not yet made a final decision because they are still learning the technicalities, including ticket prices, which are confirmed to be different between the day and night races.
The final confirmation regarding the implementation of the two-day race or not, will be made before September 2022.
"Last September (for confirmation) the committee decided, first, whether to take two days or not. Second, whether the night race or not," he said.
The implementation of the race in 2023 will involve the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) and is estimated with a new committee.
"The committee will be a new committee, but I don't know if there are old people or there are new ones, the committee that was yesterday has been disbanded," Iman said.
Formula E Jakarta in its eighth session this year will be held on Saturday, June 4, 2022.
The plan, Formula E Jakarta will be carried out for three periods, namely 2022-2024 according to the results of renegotiations between Jakpro as the organizer and promoter as well as the license holder of Formula E Operation (FEO).
As information, Mexico will be the first city to be visited by Formula E drivers on January 14, 2023. Meanwhile, the closing race will be held in the city of London on July 30, 2023.
