VIVA – Ukraine as one of the countries invited by Indonesia to the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting (FMM) which take place in Nusa Dua, Bali on July 7 to 8, 2022. Ukrainian representatives will be present virtually.

According to the Co-Sherpa of the G20 Indonesia, Dian Triansyah Djani, Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Dmytro Kuleba could not physically attend the meeting due to health reason.

"But we are proud enough that during the G20 Presidency of Indonesia many foreign ministers were present (physically)," Dian said when gives a briefing to the media in Nusa Dua on Thursday night, July 7, 2022.

Dian Triansyah Djani said that the presence of all foreign ministers of the G20 countries at the meeting was the result of Indonesia's diplomacy which provided equal opportunities for all countries to participate, even in the midst of the conflict that was being highlighted between Ukraine and Russia.

As the organizer and President of the G20, Indonesia always tries to make all countries feel comfortable to participate in any meeting, so that they can discuss various issues of mutual concern.

"With all of them coming, it's a good thing so they can comfortably discuss everything that is a (global) problem at the moment," Dian said.

In the G20 Foreign Ministers Meeting, two main issues will be discussed, namely strengthening multilateralism and food and energy security.

Dian explained that the issue of food and energy was always discussed in various G20 meetings under the Indonesian presidency, as an important agenda even before the Russo-Ukrainian war which triggered an increase in food and energy prices due to supply constraints.

With the gathering of foreign ministers in the G20 FMM, it is hoped that the group can have productive discussions to encourage future concrete cooperation to deal with food and energy issues.

"Indonesia will always encourage collaboration and cooperation to answer world challenges," Dian added.

G20 is a strategic multilateral platform that connects the world's 20 major economies and plays a strategic role in securing the future of global economic growth and prosperity.

The G20 consists of 20 countries with the largest economies in the world, namely Indonesia, Russia, South Africa, the United States, Saudi Arabia, Argentina, Australia, Brazil, India, Britain, Italy, Japan, Germany, Canada, Mexico, South Korea, France, China, Turkey and the European Union.

As the host FMM this year, Indonesia invited 10 countries outside the G20, namely Ukraine, Spain, the Netherlands, Singapore, Cambodia, Senegal, Suriname, Fiji, Rwanda, and the United Arab Emirates.
