VIVA – The Implementing Agency for the Authority Labuan Bajo Flores is preparing to develop four tourism development zones in the Bowosie Forest, Labuan Bajo, Flores, East Nusa Tenggara. This zone occupies an area of 400 hectares or 1.98% of the total area of Bowosie forest which reaches 20,193 hectares.
Labuan Bajo Flores Tourism Authority Agency (BPOLBF) President Director, Shana Fatima said the development of this area will be divided into four zones such as the cultural zone, the wild nature zone, the adventure zone, and the entertainment zone.
Cultural zone highlights the culture of Flores and NTT by elevating the uniqueness and diversity of the culture of Flores and NTT as a tourist attraction.
"This zone will feature attractions such as Hikayat Komodo, Culture Performance Art, Museum, local cultural gallery, Agriculture Tourism and pray hill." Shana said.
According to Shana, the wild nature zone will keep the exoticism of wild life going hand in hand and become a tourist attraction, as a space to show the Komodo dragon biosphere reserve to tourists. The inside will feature attractions like the Natural Reserve Gallery, Mini Zoo, Safari Night, and Lumina forest.
The adventure zone provides a unique and some concept of adventure and outdoor activities. There will be several attractions such as glamping, hiking and biking tracks, zipline coasters, tree top net playgrounds, sky coasters, ATV offroad tracks, tree top cycling, glass walkways, flying fox and outbound packages.

Meanwhile, the entertainment zone is a destination that provides various entertainment activities and self-treatment, which contains various attractions such as a sky restaurant, wedding venue, sunset view point, spa and wellness, forest pavilion and park area.
"The Otorita Labuan Bajo Area will become a landmark representation of the Komodo preserve, because it not only creates a play space for humans but also a play space for animals, nature complete with its ecosystem. Therefore, we conducted an in-depth EIA study, it is hoped that Labuan Bajo's biodiversity can come back to life and be sustainable," Shana Fatima remarked.
She added, the position of the tourism Otorita area is strategic, located above the city of Labuan Bajo and clearly visible from Komodo Airport, very suitable for international meeting activities, such as the Asian Summit and other MICE activities.
The existence of the tourism area of ??the Otorita Labuan Bajo was helped by two villages and one sub-district, namely Gorontalo Village, Golo Bilas Village and Wae Kelambu Village.
Shana explained, for two years ago BPOLBF has carried out many community empowerment programs in the area that are tailored to the needs and desires of the surrounding community, such as the Golo Bilas village youth group conducting hydroponic training and support for its cultural studio.
Build a tourism in Labuan Bajo needs to be done carefully so it can’t change the landscape that will affect social and culture for local people.
The development of tourist attractions both natural and are very needed in order to seize the opportunity of Labuan Bajo as a leading tourist destination and increase the stay of tourists.
"Availability of amenities with local entities and blends with nature will increase tourist attraction because it presents something unusual. The key is the harmonization of nature and social culture of citizens. Therefore, the involvement of the surrounding citizens is absolutely necessary in the development of the Otorita area," Shana Fatima said.
