“This situation must stop, but to do it, strength and determination to achieve our goals are needed. We need to unite and not be divided by discrimination, unite to defend the rights of all women,” Linda Laura Sabbadini said in one of the panel discussions at the W20 Summit.

Especially, Sabbadini highlighted the issue of unpaid workers as a form of discrimination that continues to burden women.

According to her, unpaid workers are the biggest injustice suffered by women when they are forced to receive unpaid wages because they have to share roles in the family.

“The heavy workload in the family often prevents women from being able to work, and when they have children, they can work fewer hours and receive less wages,” Sabbadini said.

In addition, Sabbadini also mentioned the war in Russia-Ukraine that triggered millions of women and children to evacuate from their homes. She also insisted that the war must end.

She also emphasizes the rights of both Russian and Ukrainian women and children to the future of democratic freedoms.

Unfortunately, to realize this freedom, women must be able to be economically independent with the support of decent work and jointly fight violence against them.

"And to fight gender stereotypes that place women in a lower role in the family and society," Sabbadini added.

Therefore, Sabaddini asked the G20 countries to follow up the Italian G20 Presidency in 2021 which aims to develop the quantity and quality of female workers and share family work responsibilities.

“This is very significant because women are the pillars of the world. They endured it with their strength in the midst of the discrimination they suffered,” Sabbadini said.
