VIVA – The Torch Relay 2022 ASEAN Para Games event was scheduled to take place from July 23 to 24, 2022 yesterday in Solo. Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Uno, Mayor of Solo Gibran Rakabuming Raka and some artists participated in this event. The torches taken from Mrapen Grobogan were carried alternately for 5 kilometers.
The starting point of the torch relay starts at the Purwosari intersection. Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno was the first to carry the torch.
After that, the torches were carried alternately by Gibran and the artists who were involved in the torch relay such as Mario Lawalatan, Rian D'Masiv, Erika Carlina, Deswita Maharani, Ferry Maryadi and others.
The presence of the torch relay at Stadio Sriwedari was welcomed by a number of traditional art attractions such as Reog, Lembu Sura, Buto Gedruk and Barong Kemamang.

The torch relay received a rousing welcome from thousands of people sitting in the stadium stands. The torch was then carried around the field by Sandiaga Uno and the artists.
After a ceremonial procession and a 'fire dance' dance performance, the torch relay continued to Solo City Hall.
The enthusiasm of the people who attended the car free day along Slamet Riyadi street Solo was quite high when the carnival accompaniment passed.
Arrived at the Gladag Roundabout, then, the torch was carried by the Deputy Mayor of Solo, Teguh Prakosa and continued with the Chairman of INASPOC and also the Mayor of Solo, Gibran Rakabuming Raka, he ran carrying the torch, escorted from the Mechanical Brigade Raider 6 Kostrad.
After arrived at the city hall, then, Gibran who was still carrying the torch went up to the cauldron stage. Then, the torch flame was immediately lit into the cauldron but failed due to technical problems.
The committee officers immediately tried to fix it and Gibran's second attempt to light the cauldron fire from the torch was successfully lit.
It is planned that the fire will be buried at the Solo City Hall until the opening ceremony of the 2022 ASEAN Para Games XI which will take place on July 30, 2022 at the Manahan Stadium, Solo.

The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said thank you to Solo’s people who enthusiastically welcomed the torch relay of the ASEAN Para Games XI 2022.
According to Sandiaga, the enthusiasm of the people who attended the torch relay was one of the motivations for welcoming the opening of the sporting event which was attended by athletes with disabilities from the Southeast Asian region.
“The ASEAN Para Games Torch Relay is participated by sport federations throughout ASEAN. And most importantly, the community can provide support because we will welcome 1,800 athletes from abroad, which we hope will become the economic and tourism revival of the City of Solo," Sandiaga Uno remarked.
