VIVA – The President of Indonesia, Joko Widodo attended a meeting with CEOs of South Korean companies at the Lotte Hotel, Seoul, on Thursday morning, July 28, 2022. During the meeting, Jokowi asked CEOs not to hesitate to convey investment obstacles in the field to the Ministers or the President directly.

Previously, the CEO of South Korea gave a response to the investment climate in Indonesia that was considered very conducive.

The Head of State, Joko Widodo also emphasized that currently the Indonesian government continues to simplify and simplify regulations with the presence of the omnibus law on the Job Creation Act or locally known as Cipta Kerja.

"This is a structural reform carried out by Indonesia in order to provide as many investment opportunities as possible," Joko Widodo remarked.

To the CEOs, the President also expressed his gratitude for the investments that have been made. Joko Widodo also views South Korea's investment trend as showing a significant increase.

"For now, South Korea is the sixth largest investor in Indonesia, this is a very good achievement and we hope that all of us South Korea can enter the top three, top 3 in Indonesia," Jokowi  said.

Furthermore, the President explained that the Indonesian economy is in good condition. Indonesia's economic growth in the first quarter was at 5.01 percent, then inflation could still be controlled at 4.3 percent.

"Indonesia's trade surplus in the first half of this year reached USD 24.8 billion, a very large jump from us. This is also due to the support from all of you, especially those who are export-oriented," The President of Indonesia said.

At the end of his speech, the President invited CEOs to move forward together in developing the economy.

"Let's move forward with Indonesia and South Korea to build a better economy," Joko Widodo remarked.

After the meeting, President Jokowi also witnessed the signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Ministry of Investment/BKPM with PT Krakatau Steel and POSCO Holdings.
