VIVA – Indonesian President, Joko Widodo plans to build a football training center in the capital city (IKN). Jokowi's wish was conveyed when he received the Minister of Youth and Sports, Zainudin Amali at the Merdeka Palace on Wednesday, August 3, 2022.

On this occasion, Zainudin was also accompanied by the General Chairman of the Indonesian Football Association (PSSI) Mochamad Iriawan.

The government sees the development of the Indonesian national football team getting better, therefore the construction of a soccer training center needs to be done.

"Mr. President, after seeing the development of national football getting better, he gave directions to me and the General Chairperson of PSSI to immediately build our soccer training camp, where everything is complete, and will be carried out in the Capital of the Archipelago, the new capital city of the country,” Zainudin Amali explained after the meeting.

Zainudin continued, the government plans to build various sports facilities, both main facilities and complete supporting facilities. This is also related to Indonesia's proposal to host the 2036 Olympics in the future.

"At the same time, he has given me directions some time ago for us to bid to host the 2036 Olympics, but the proposal has already stated that the implementation is at IKN," Zainudin Amali remarked.

On the same occasion, PSSI General Chair, Mochamad Iriawan added that his party was happy with the idea of ??President Jokowi wanting to build a soccer training center at IKN. According to him, this is something that people in the country have been waiting for.

With the attention of President Joko Widodo, Mochamad Iriawan believes that football in Indonesia will get better in the future.

"This is what the public has been waiting for. Once again, thank you Mr. President for your attention to football and Insya Allah, Indonesian football will continue to do well and progress," Mochamad Iriawan remarked.
