VIVA – Every time people talk about Indonesia's independence, they cannot forget the anthem, Indonesia Raya. The Indonesian national anthem is also always sung during the flag ceremony. The song Indonesia Raya was composed of three stanzas.
The song Indonesia Raya was composed by Wage Rudolf Soepratman, born on March 19, 1903. WR Soepratman works as a journalist and musician. Soepratman also worked as a teacher.
WR Soepratman wrote the song Indonesia Raya. He started when he read an article about "Which Indonesian composer can compose the Indonesian national anthem that can lift the spirits of the people?" in Timboel magazine published by Solo.
Soepratman's heart then moved. From here, the history of the anthem Indonesia Raya was made. Every lyric he made was a prayer for Indonesia. In 1926, WR Soepratman began to write Indonesian song notes and compose songs using the violin.
The history of the anthem Indonesia Raya is also marked by the Second Youth Congress on October 28, 1928, at the Indonesische Clubgebouw Building. WR Soepratman is a young man who is never absent from attending Youth Congress I and II.
Then, the song Indonesia Raya was first played on October 28, 1928, to be exact at the Second Indonesian Youth Congress II.

After the Youth Congress II took place, the song Indonesia Raya was increasingly recognized by all circles. The Indonesian National Party (PNI) at the second congress in Batavia, May 18-20, 1929. Not only stood singing the anthem Indonesia Raya but even made the anthem Indonesia Raya.
The song Indonesia Raya was declared dangerous because it disrupted public order and peace. The Dutch government also banned the anthem Indonesia Raya from being sung and heard in public.

After WR Soepratman died, in 1944 Japan formed the National Anthem Committee chaired by Soekarno. The committee made 3 changes to the original manuscript written by WR Soepratman. The song Indonesia Raya was then replayed officially on the day of Indonesia's independence.
