The mysteries of nature around us are often referred to as natural phenomena. One of them is the presence of several craters which may be said to be strange by most people. In fact, there is also a sign of the presence of the doomsday.

While Earth itself is home to some incredible craters with an equally remarkable history, not all crater sites are easily accessible and for real-life human spectacle. Here are some of the mysterious craters in the world.

Barringer Crater is a meteor crater that formed relatively recently only 50,000 years ago when an iron meteor measuring 30 meters to 50 meters struck the Colorado Plateau in Northern Arizona, according to the Lunar and Planetary Institute.

The origin of this strangest crater in the world was first identified by mining engineer Daniel Moreau Barringer who believed that the crater was the result of a meteor hitting the Earth. Despite much opposition, the experts continued to investigate the crater for years.

2. Lonar Crater

Lonar Crater is in the highlands of South India. According to NASA's Earth Observatory, this crater is the largest meteorite crater that has baffled experts since its identification in 1823 by British officer C.J.E Alexander. This crater is on a plain of basaltic rock left over from a volcanic eruption.

Initially this crater was thought to be a volcano. However, it is now known that this crater was formed from 35,000 to 50,000 years ago, as a result of a meteor. Lonar Crater is the only impact crater known to have formed in the basalt.

3. Ijen Crater

Ijen Crater in Indonesia is a turquoise colored crater lake. This is because of the bright citrus green stones surrounded by white bubbles surrounding the turquoise lake.

It is known that this can happen because the magma chamber at the bottom of the mountain mixes sulfur gas into the lake. Thus, meeting a high concentration of metal solution to change the color of the water.

The hydrogen chloride released from the Ijen crater mixes with the lake turning it into a dangerous poison.

4. Aden Crater

Initially, this crater was revealed when British planes managed to photograph the cities from the air. They found a city of Aden that was above a large crater, then called it Krytar/Crater. The British Empire sent a delegation to conduct research on the city of Aden.

However, in a hadith narrated by Tirmidhi, it is said that the Aden Mountains could explode at any time. This is in accordance with the hadith of the Prophet who said, "The fire will come out from the bottom of the slopes of Aden, towards people. The fire will be silent when people sleep, the fire will run when people walk."

In fact, the crater in the Yemeni capital has become a free trade zone. Dr. Umar Sulaiman As-Ashgar in his book writes that before the doomsday, fire will come out of the crater of Aden which will lead people.

5. Gosses Bluff (Tnorala)

Gosses Bluff is the most studied impact crater in Australia. Sandwiched between the Macdonnell Range and James Range in the heart of Australia, those wishing to access the crater should respect the site's cultural importance to the Aboriginal people of West Arrernte.

They must also comply with signs stating where access is not allowed. Scientists believe that a meteor traveling at speeds of up to 25 miles per second (40 km per second) hit Earth 142 million years ago, creating a giant crater nearly 14 miles (22 km) wide.
