It said Facebook needed to announce an immediate ban on Donald Trump's account or provide a timeframe during which the suspension would be lifted.

Since January 7, 2021, Trump's Facebook account has been visible to users. However, neither Trump nor anyone else can access the account to post new content, quoted via the Mashable SE Asia page on Friday, September 23, 2022.

Facebook announced that Donald Trump's suspension would last for two years in June 2021.

At the time, Facebook said lifting the suspension required an assessment of the risk to public safety and the company would continue to block Donald Trump's access until the risk was removed.

"Facebook will talk to experts, weigh real-world risks and act in proportion," Nick Clegg remarked.

Lifting the suspension in January next year means that Trump will not be able to post for the midterm elections, but will return to social media networks for the presidential campaign in the 2024 election.

Meanwhile, YouTube is taking a Facebook-like approach and has suspended Trump until the risk of violence is reduced. As of now, Donald Trump is still unable to access his YouTube account.

This action eventually led the former US President to create his conservative social network called Truth Social where he has four million followers.

By comparison, Donald Trump currently has more 34 million followers on his suspended Facebook page.
