BNPB Conducts Table Top Exercise, Prevents Disaster at G20 Summit

VIVA – Head of the National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB), Lt. Gen. Suharyanto ensured that several preparations are made to handle potential disasters ahead of the G20 high-level conference (KTT) in Bali, one is BNPB conducted a Table Top Exercise (TTX).

In a written statement received in Jakarta, Wednesday, October 5, 2022, Suharyanto said that to increase disaster management capacity, BNPB some time ago conducted a Table Top Exercise (TTX) involving all multi-stakeholder elements involved in organizing the G20 Summit.

"Regarding natural disasters, we have carried out TTX, the point is that if a disaster occurs, we are ready to do what and how we have been trained," Suharyanto remarked while attending a ministerial-level meeting discussing the implementation of the G20 Summit held in Badung, Bali on Tuesday, October 4, 2022.

Suharyanto was present accompanied by BNPB officials and the Oral and Nail Disease Handling Task Force (PMK). Suharyanto, who is also the head of the PMK Task Force, said that ahead of the G20 Summit, the arrival of animal vaccines in Bali has accelerated.

"We have added a team of vaccinators and vaccines until the end of October with a target of 80 percent of cattle being vaccinated, whose antibody vaccine has increased by 99.54 percent," Suharyanto explained.

Suharyanto added that testing had been carried out on livestock in Bali, and the exposed ones had been slaughtered. It is known, testing has been carried out and six positive tails were subject to conditional slaughter.

On the same occasion, Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves), Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan asked BNPB to prepare steps related to handling PMK and also potential natural disasters.

"The first is the preparation for PMK, the second is the possibility of the eruption of Mount Agung and the third is certainly an earthquake," Luhut Binsar remarked.

In addition to the Head of BNPB and Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, the meeting was attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Communication and Information Technology, Minister of Law and Human Rights, Minister of Health, Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Governor of Bali and parties involved in the G20 Summit.
