President Jokowi Will Approve Circuit Construction at IKN

VIVA – In an event entitled “Ibu Kota Nusantara: Sejarah Baru Peradaban Baru” at the Djakarta Theater, Jakarta, on October 18, 2022, the Indonesian President, Joko Widodo indicated that he would approve if there are investors who want to build a circuit in the Capital of the Archipelago (IKN) in future.

"This Mr. MPR Chairman (Bambang Soesatyo) is also very rich and wants to build a circuit. Earlier, he was whispering, 'Sir, can I build a circuit?' then I answered “Why not?" Joko Widodo said.

President Jokowi said the initial population in IKN was estimated at 60,000 households. That number when multiplied by the number of existing family members will be very large and has become a city.

Corn Imports Down to 450 Thousand Tons

The government has started construction in IKN, starting from dams, and road infrastructure to construction for the needs of IKN workers. Jokowi invites all investors from within and outside the country to invest in IKN.

"Earlier this was conveyed by the Head of the Authority, according to the commitments, not only one hospital but seven. Also, nine schools,” Joko Widodo remarked.

President Jokowi also repeated his belief that if many parties work together, then on August 17, 2024, the Indonesian people can celebrate the 79th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia at IKN Nusantara.

"So, once again that in August 2024, we want IKN to have become a lively modern city and we will celebrate the 79th Indonesian Independence Day in the courtyard of the IKN Palace," Joko Widodo said.

Also attending the event were Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati, Head of IKN Authority Bambang Susantono, Deputy Head of IKN Authority Dhony Rahajoe, and Chairman of KADIN Arsjad Rasjid. Also present was former British prime minister Tony Blair who has been appointed as an adviser to the IKN development project.
