The Sepang Circuit is the first circuit designed by Hermann Tilke, who is the architect of most of the race tracks. The circuit is dominated by two long straight tracks separated by a unique main stand with a center fan zone.

The circuit has an interesting mix of medium and high-speed corners. The first and third sectors of the lap feature long straights and hairpin bends, while sector two has some medium and high-speed corners. To date, the circuit remains one of the most challenging tracks.

Also, the Sepang Circuit is the track that exhausts the brakes the most. The hardest braking occurred at the first corner, where the driver's speed dropped from 331 km/h to 67 km/h. The braking distance is 289 meters for six seconds.
