17 State Leaders Confirm Attendance for G20 Summit in Bali

VIVA – Ahead of the G20 Summit on November 15 to 16, 2022, in Bali. State leaders have confirmed their attendance at the meeting. So far, President Joko Widodo said that there have been 17 state leaders of G20 members who have stated that they will attend the meeting. However, Jokowi does want to elaborate on who are the heads of state who will attend the G20 Summit.

"There are only three G20 leaders who have not confirmed (attendance). Later I will call to confirm their arrival," President Joko Widodo told to reporters at JIExpo Kemayoran Jakarta, last week, November 2, 2022.

Well, here’s a list of state leaders who have confirmed their attendance at the G20 Summit, through the official government website or government media of each country:

South Korea

As launched from US News, Wednesday, November 9, 2022, South Korean President Yoon Suk-yeol confirmed his attendance at the G20 Summit taking place in Bali, Indonesia.

Saudi Arabia 

The State Leader of Saudi Arabia, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud is likely to attend the G20 summit scheduled in Bali on November 15-16, 2022, Saudi Minister of Trade Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi said.

As head of state and head of government, King Salman has always attended the G20 summit before, which is the culmination of a series of G20 meetings, Majid said on the sidelines of his activities in Nusa Dua, Bali.

Canada

Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau confirmed his attendance at the G20 Summit, via the Canadian government's official website, last week, November 2, 2022.

"Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today that he will participate in the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Summit in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, the G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia," the confirmation read.

Italy

Indonesian Foreign Minister, Retno Marsudi said that she had received confirmation of the presence of Italian Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni at the upcoming G20 Summit.

UK

The new British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has also confirmed his attendance at the G20 Summit. Quoted from Xinhua news agency, earlier this week, Retno Marsudi had also received confirmation of Sunak's presence at the meeting which took place in Bali.

Turkiye

According to Daily Sabah, the President of Turkiye, Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced that he will travel to Uzbekistan, Indonesia, Bahrain, and Qatar this month. His visit to Indonesia is aimed at attending the G20 Summit which will take place in Bali, on November 15 to 16, 2022.

Argentina

President of Argentina, Alberto Fernandez also confirmed his attendance at the G20 Summit in Bali. Fernandez will later fly to Indonesia after fulfilling a dialog invitation in Paris, France.

The Australian Prime Minister, Albanese also said that he will attend the G20 Summit in Bali. He conveyed the good news directly to President Joko Widodo.

India

The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi will reportedly attend the G20 Summit. His presence is also considered important because India will become the G20 Presidency in 2023.

"Next week I will go to Indonesia. There will be a formal announcement there regarding India's presidency of the G20 next year," Narendra Modi remarked.

United States (US)

US President, Joe Biden also confirmed his attendance at the G20 summit. However, he emphasized that he would not want to talk to Russian President Vladimir Putin if attending the meeting.

China

President of China, Xi Jinping confirmed his attendance at the G20 Summit in Bali. He conveyed this directly to President Jokowi.

South Africa

South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa confirmed that he will attend the summit in Bali on November 15 to 16, 2022.

"President Ramaphosa will participate in the G20 Summit in Bali, Indonesia, where leaders of the world's major advanced and emerging economies will hold discussions on global priorities chaired by Indonesia during its term as G20 Presidency this year," wrote an official statement from the South African government.
