VIVA – The 2024 National Sports Week (PON) in Sena Village, Batang Kuis District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra will be held in 2024. In welcoming this event, the North Sumatra government is going to build a magnificent main stadium which will begin in January 2023.
This was conveyed by the Governor of North Sumatra, Edy Rahmayadi on Monday, December 19, 2022. He said the work tender had been carried out and was ready to work on the magnificent stadium project in North Sumatra.
"It must be serious, January 2 has started, for the stadium, venue, if the non-physical has been from 2 years ago," Governor Edy Rahmayadi remarked.

The former PSSI Chairman said that no representatives from the North Sumatra Provincial Government were present at the Focused Group Discussion (FGD) with the Director of PUPR Strategic Infrastructure, on 'North Sumatra and Aceh Strategies to Improve Sports Achievements and Regional Economic Revival' in Jakarta, December 16, 2022.
"Jon Lubis (Chairman of KONI North Sumatra) will be present, he hasn't returned yet, there is a representative of the Kadispora who is not present," said Edy Rahmayadi.
North Sumatra is confirmed to have a new stadium that will be used for PON XXI/2024 and is scheduled to be built in early 2023.
Meanwhile, the Director of Strategic Infrastructure of the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PPUPR), Essy Asiah also confirmed that the stadium construction will begin in the next two or three months.
Essy Asiah said that before this, her party was waiting for a Presidential Regulation (Perpres) related to this matter. But finally, it was confirmed that there was no new Perpres but continued to use Perpres 120 concerning Special Assignments in the Context of Accelerating the Implementation of Infrastructure Development, "besides North Sumatra, one stadium will also be built in Aceh," Essy said.
