VIVA – The government has made various efforts to increase the use of electric vehicles in the country. One is providing convenience to manufacturers, who want to make environmentally friendly vehicles locally.

Also, the government has determined the use of Battery Electric Vehicles as official vehicles, following Presidential Instruction Number 7 of 2022.

Several incentives have also been provided, to encourage the use of battery-based electric motorized vehicles or KBLBB. Among them are zero percent PPnBM, a maximum local tax of 10 percent, a minimum down payment of zero percent, and a low-interest rate.

The incentives are a package of policies with the KBLBB policy, following Presidential Regulation Number 55 of 2019 in which the government targets that by 2035 there will be one million four-wheeled or more electric vehicles and 3.22 million two-wheeled electric vehicles circulating in Indonesia.

Special treatment for electric cars is also provided by the Jakarta Provincial Government, through DKI Governor Regulation Number 3 of 2020 which exempts these vehicles from the Motor Vehicle Title Transfer Fee or BBNKB.

Another thing that also attracts people to use these emission-free vehicles, namely free passing in odd-even-based traffic control areas.

However, the Jakarta government plans to implement a new regulation to reduce traffic congestion in the capital, namely paid roads or Electronic Road Pricing (ERP).

In the draft plan, as quoted on Wednesday, January 11, 2023, the categories of vehicles that must pay if they pass through the 25 points that have been determined are all types, including electric cars. The rule is in article 13:

Road users who use Motorized Vehicles and Certain Vehicles Using Electric Motor Drives through the Electronic Traffic Control Area will be subject to Electronic Traffic Control Service Rates.

The ERP system is planned to be enforced every day starting at 5 am in Western Indonesian Time until 10 pm in Western Indonesian Time. However, its status is still under discussion.
