FIFA Allows Indonesia to Organize Opening Ceremony U-20 World Cup

VIVA – Minister of Youth and Sports, Zainudin Amali stated the 2023 U-20 World Cup in Indonesia will start with the lively opening ceremony designed by Wishnutama Kusubandio. FIFA actually is not similar to the opening ceremony but Indonesia has a special request to be allowed.

According to Minister Zainudin, FIFA has allowed this request because it this asked by the Indonesian President, Joko Widodo.

"Then allowed by the President of FIFA. Just don't imagine that the opening is the same as the senior World Cup," Zainudin Amali said on January 19, 2023.

Minister Zainudin added that the plan also will be the closing ceremony before the 2023 U-20 World Cup in the final round and another event to welcome the U-20 World Cup, namely the handover of the trophy from the previous host, Poland.

"The plan is for the event to be held in February 2023. But I don't know the exact date yet," he said.

The 2023 U-20 World Cup was held in Indonesia from May 20 to June 11 and was followed by 24 countries including Indonesia as the host.

The tournament uses six stadiums, including Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium in Jakarta, Jakabaring Stadium in Palembang, Si Jalak Harupat Stadium in Bandung, Manahan Stadium in Solo, Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya and Captain I Wayan Dipta Stadium in Bali.
