World Leaders Convey Deep Condolences After Huge Quake Hit Turkey

VIVA – A huge earthquake with a magnitude of 7.8 hit Turkey’s southeastern province in the early morning on February 6, 2023, killing around four thousand people and collapsing thousands of buildings. The world leaders convey their deep condolences, one is the Indonesian President, Joko Widodo.
“My deepest condolences to the people of Syria and Türkiye following the earthquake this morning across southeast Türkiye and northern Syria. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and victims. Indonesia stands in solidarity with the people of Türkiye and Syria.” President Jokowi wrote on his official account Twitter, on February 6, 2023.
Meanwhile, the President of Israel, Isaac Herzog also conveys his condolences to Turkey because of the powerful earthquake.
“On behalf of the Israeli people, I am deeply saddened by the enormous disaster that has befallen Türkiye following last night’s earthquake. My condolences to President Erdogan and the Turkish people for the loss of life and destruction of livelihoods.” Isaac Herzog wrote on his official Twitter account.
“The State of Israel always stands ready to assist in every way possible. Our hearts are with the grieving families and the Turkish people at this painful moment,” the President added.
After that, the President of France, Emmanuel Macron also delivers his condolences. He says that his country is ready to provide emergency aid to Turkey and Syria.
“Terrible images come to us from Turkey and Syria after an earthquake of unprecedented force. France stands ready to provide emergency aid to the populations on the spot. Our thoughts are with the bereaved families,” Emmanuel Macron also wrote on his official account Twitter.
Likewise, French Foreign Minister Catherine Colonna said that she had sent her "sincere condolences" to her Turkish counterpart Mevlut Cavusoglu, her country, and its people, "France is on their side," she said, as reported by Alarabiya News.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, his country also ready to provide the necessary assistance to overcome the consequences of the disaster.
“I express my sincere condolences to the President @RTErdogan, the people, and the families of the victims of the earthquake in the southeast. I wish a speedy recovery to all the victims. We will stand by the people in this difficult time. Ready to provide the necessary assistance to overcome the consequences of the disaster,” President Zelensky wrote.
Turkey's earthquake destroyed hundreds of buildings and killed thousands of people. Hundreds of people are believed to still be trapped under rubble, and the toll is expected to rise as rescue workers search mounds of rubble in cities and towns across the area.
Many buildings were turned into piles of shattered rubble, while major aftershocks also occurred in some areas, which were almost as strong as the first.
Rescue workers and residents in several towns searched for survivors and worked to remove metal and concrete that buried many people.
A hospital in Turkey collapsed, forcing patients, including newborns, to be evacuated from facilities in Syria. In the Turkish city of Adana, a resident said three buildings near his home collapsed.
