President Joko Widodo Named the Father of Indonesian Automotive

VIVA – Recently, the Indonesian Motor Association (IMI) gave a name for President Joko Widodo as the Father of Indonesian Automotive. It was taking place at the IMI Awards 2021-2022 event, which was held last weekend in Jakarta.

It is known that the award was given as a form of IMI’s appreciation for all support from the President for the progress of the Indonesian automotive world. Starting from policies, and facilities provided by the government.

Jokowi’s support is in the form of encouraging world automotive events that comes to Indonesia, including the MotoGP, MXGP, Formula E, and F1 Powerboat racing championship.

President Joko Widodo said that IMI can produce international-class racing athletes. It makes Indonesia not only a champion in the world automotive industry but also a champion in various automotive championship events.

“Previously, we successfully held the Mandalika MotoGP which was witnessed live by more than 100 thousand spectators. This year we will also hold another Mandalika MotoGP and Formula E in Jakarta,” President Joko Widodo stated.

On the same occasion, the Chairman of the IMI Center, Bambang Soesatryo said that apart from the award to President Jokowi as the Father of Indonesian Automotive, IMI Awards 2021-2022 also gave awards to automotive figures who care about the automotive world in Indonesia.

“Several awards given reaches 258 awards, it is hoped that this can make better achievements in the national arena, as well as encourage more figures to pay great attention to the progress of automotive sports and mobility in the country,” he explained.

In receiving the award, among others, Minister of Youth and Sports; Zainuddin Amali, Metro Jaya Police Chief Inspector General; Muhammad Fadil Imran, Deputy III Chairman of KONI; Tursandi Alwi, Chairman of the IMI Governing Board Lieutenant General TNI (ret); AM Putranto and other IMI Central plenary board members were also present.
