VIVA – President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was given the title as the father of Indonesian sports by the Indonesian Olympic Committee (NOC Indonesia), on Monday. This is because of his big contribution to advancing sports achievements in the country.
Chairman of NOC Indonesia, Raja Sapta Oktohari, stated that President Jokowi gives all his attention to sports in Indonesia. Everyone can see and feel that. One is like an award for an outstanding athlete at the international level.
During the Members' Meeting and Extraordinary Congress at the Fairmont Hotel Jakarta, Oktohari proposed that Jokowi be named the Father of Indonesian Sports.
"President Joko Widodo has a concern for sports and we all the big family of Indonesian sports can feel it, where appreciation for athletes and sports is better. On this occasion, we propose what if President Joko Widodo is named the Father of Indonesian Sports, and 65 members of NOC Indonesia agreed.” Oktohari explained.

It is not hard for NOC Indonesia to give this predicate to President Joko Widodo, Oktohari added. The President also provides Indonesia has a name in the international world.
During Joko Widodo on duty as the Indonesian President, Indonesia successfully hosted the Asian Games 2018, Asian Para Games 2018, and 2022. Various world-class single events also chose Indonesia as the host.
