Ministry Improves Infrastructure Facilities to Support Eid Homecoming

VIVA – The Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono ensures that his party has improved infrastructure facilities to support the flow of Eid homecoming in 2023.
"For homecoming, there are usually three things; infrastructure, regulation, and behavior. That is determined the success of homecoming and return flow," he said in the press statement, at Presidential Palace Complex, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
Minister Hadimuljono said his party has widened roads, added rest areas, and operated functional toll roads.
"First, the widening of the Jakarta-Cikampek lane at the kilometer after the elevated descent is already 4-4 (lanes) all. So, I hope it will not become a bottleneck there," the minister informed.

To avoid congestion, the minister said, road widening into three sections was also carried out at each face of the rest area on the Cipali Toll Road. In addition, the Ministry of PUPR has also prepared additional rest areas at kilometers 81a and b.
"In total, it will be around 20 hectares after finished. But later, for the homecoming and return flows, it is possible that we can prepare around two hectares temporarily, but there are also toilets and possibly mobile Pertamina and other infrastructure. There is about 200 vehicles capacity," Minister Hadimuljono explained.
Furthermore, the government has also prepared several functional toll roads, such as in Japek Selatan II from Sadang to Taman Mekar, sections in the Solo-Yogyakarta Toll Road, to the Indralaya-Prabumulih Toll Road.
The operation of this functional toll road is expected to support the smooth flow of homecoming.
Not only infrastructure readiness, but the Minister also revealed the government will provide toll tariff discounts two days before and two days after joint leave on several toll roads in Java and Sumatra.
"For toll roads in Java, it was announced 20 percent discount has been approved. From Bakauheni-Terbanggi Besar-Kayu Agung, there is also a 20 percent discount from BUJT Hutama Karya. In addition, those from Binjai-Medan are also given a discount," he stated.
