VIVA – Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) declared that Indonesia so open for investment and collaboration especially for the industrial downstream and green economy. It was stated during his speech in 2023 Hannover Messe, Germany, on Sunday.
"Indonesia doesn't close itself, instead, (Indonesia) so open to investment and collaboration in building downstream industries in Indonesia," he said.
In building the industry, the President assessed that Indonesia has a huge opportunity, as seen from the projected investment value in Indonesia's downstream road map which reaches US$545.3 billion.
Until 2040, there are 21 commodities in the downstream road map which are projected to reach investment value of US$545.3 billion. President Jokowi said: “This is a very big opportunity, which is mutually beneficial.”

In addition, President Widodo also emphasized Indonesia's commitment to maintaining environmental sustainability as seen from several concrete actions that have been taken in improving the environment and efforts to implement the energy transition.
Also, the deforestation rate has dropped significantly and is the lowest in the last 20 years, forest fires have decreased by 88 percent, forest rehabilitation of 600 thousand hectares of mangrove forests will be completed in 2024, the largest in the world, and 30,000 hectares of green industrial areas will be built, the President explained.
In addition, the President said that Indonesia also targets 23 percent of energy sources generated from new and renewable energy (EBT) by 2025, and plans to close all coal-fired power plants by 2050.
"Indonesia also wants to ensure that the energy transition produces affordable energy for our people," he continued.
