VIVA – Chery International continues to achieve impressive results in various segments of the automotive industry, thereby strengthening its global position.
In 2022, Chery recorded an outstanding global sales figure of 1,230,000 units and ranked second in its industry. With this achievement, Chery could maintain its growth consistently.
"Chery Group was able to achieve outstanding performance on an international scale by becoming China's leading passenger car exporter for two decades. With a presence in more than 80 countries and regions, Chery Group has established an extensive global network consisting of 1,500 overseas sales and service outlets," President of PT Chery Sales Indonesia, Shawn Xu said in an official statement, on Tuesday.

Chery International's export sales figures illustrate its remarkable growth. In 2019, export sales reached 96,000 units. Meanwhile, in 2020, this number increased to 114,000 units, marking a year-on-year growth rate of 19%.
Then in 2021, the Chery Group experienced a surge in export sales, which was particularly impressive, reaching 269,000 units. This reflected a remarkable year-on-year growth rate of 136%.
Building on this momentum, the company achieved a historic sales figure of 450,000 units in 2022, representing a staggering year-on-year growth rate of 67%.
With a target of 700,000 units for export sales by 2023, Chery Group aims to double its export volume, up to seven times compared to 2019.
Xu also said that going forward, Chery International has projected to expand its presence in the ASEAN region and other right-hand drive markets.
"Chery International has drawn up a comprehensive market penetration plan, targeting countries such as South Africa, Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Thailand, and the UK," he explained.
He also said: "Currently, even Chery South Africa has achieved significant success by ranking 7th in the passenger car market, while Chery Indonesia will become a production center."
As information, PT Chery Sales Indonesia (CSI) has set up CKD assembly equipped with body painting and will start full CDK in October 2023.
By 2024, CSI aims to achieve a localization rate of 40% and start exports in the second half of the year. In addition, CSI is also focusing on expanding its dealership network by 60 by the end of this year.
First Southeast Asia Porsche Experience Center to Open in Singapore
Porsche has announced plans to build the first Porsche Experience Center (PEC) in Southeast Asia, located in Singapore.
