VIVA – In a ceremony commemorating the birth of Pancasila on Thursday, Indonesian President Joko Widodo said that Pancasila is playing the crucial role for Indonesia's success in facing global challenges, as well as maintaining economic, social, and political stability, keeping inflation down, growing investment, and increasing job employment.
"Because of unity, hard work and mutual cooperation, Indonesia has successfully facing some challenges. The foundation of all this is Pancasila as ideology," the President said at the National Monument (Monas), Jakarta.
The President emphasized that the Government continues to strive for development that requires continuity and sustainability.
"Justice, equity, and welfare are what we want to realize through structural reforms, improving the quality of human resources, downstreaming industries and the construction of the IKN Nusantara," he explained.
"We want the natural wealth of this country to be maximally beneficial for the welfare of the people. We want people outside Java to also benefit significantly from the existing development," he added.

The President also said: "As a great country, Indonesia must be able to be equal to other nations, cooperate with any country, and bridge the differences that exist in the world."
"This is Indonesia, Indonesia cannot be dictated by anyone, by any country. However, it is always ready to contribute to the world,"
The President believes that the Pancasila ideology makes Indonesia's leadership accepted and recognized by the world. This is proven by Indonesia's success in organizing international meetings such as the G20 summit and ASEAN summit.
"The G20 Presidency that has been successfully implemented, the ASEAN Chairmanship this year, is clear evidence that Pancasila is not only the main thing for Indonesia, but also very relevant for the world," he said.
The Head of State also reminded that tolerance, unity, and mutual cooperation are the keys to building a strong nation.
Therefore, he invited the Indonesian people to reject extremism, identity politicization, and religious politicization.
"Let us welcome the democratic party of the 2024 General Election with joy, by upholding the values of Pancasila, fighting for an advanced Indonesia, which is fair, prosperous, and authoritative in the world arena," he remarked.
