Indonesia Commits to Hosting 2023 FIBA World Cup

Jakarta – The Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo conveyed  Indonesia commits to host the 2023 Basketball World Cup.

This was conveyed in a meeting with the Secretary General of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Andreas Zagklis and the Indonesian Basketball Association on Friday, which discussed Indonesia's preparations to host the 2023 Basketball World Cup.

"We are happy to announce that the Basketball World Cup in Jakarta is going according to plan and there is nothing to worry about," Minister Ariotedjo said on the official website of the Youth and Sports Ministry, as quoted on Saturday.

Minister Ariotedjo said the Indonesian government has committed to the success of the Basketball World Cup grand event. This is evidenced by the construction of the Indoor Multifunction Stadium (IMS) in the Gelora Bung Karno area, Jakarta.

This multifunctional stadium is designed magnificently and has a seating capacity of more than 16 thousand. IMS is also supported by a spacious and comfortable layout.

"The government has allocated a budget to support the organization of this prestigious event. This budget is used for all event purposes. This large investment reflects the commitment to provide world-class facilities for sports fans and international events," the Minister remarked.

"Jakarta is ready to host the Basketball World Cup, and will offer an unforgettable experience for basketball fans. It is our commitment to ensure the event is a success."

Meanwhile, Secretary General of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) Andreas Zagklis expressed his gratitude for Indonesia's commitment to host the Basketball World Cup which will take place in August 2023.

"We said thank you for the construction of this new building (multifunctional stadium/IMS). You have also confirmed this commitment and of course we are very happy with the information. We will present something very classy in the future," he said.

The 2023 Basketball World Cup will be held in Indonesia, the Philippines, and Japan. The event will be held from August 25 to September 10, 2023.
