Jokowi Appreciates Kertajati Airport Flights Getting Better

West Java – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) appreciated the increase in flight activities at West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati, West Java, which has been getting better.

The appreciation was conveyed by the Head of State after directly reviewing activities and facilities at the largest airport in West Java on Tuesday. 

"I am happy because the activities at Kertajati Airport are very good. Now it is used for Hajj embarkation. This airport for approximately eight thousand pilgrims from seven regencies/cities in West Java Province," the head of state said after the inspection.

In addition to the Hajj embarkation, President Jokowi said that Kertajati International Airport has also served a number of international flights.

Among them are Umrah flights four times a week and Kuala Lumpur-Kertajati route flights twice a week.

"Starting in October, it will be fully operational, meaning that flights from Husein Sastranegara Airport will be shifted to Kertajati, especially for jet aircraft," the President concluded. 

On that occasion, the President also appreciated the interest of investors from several countries who will invest in Kertajati International Airport. The President said that the Government will immediately decide and accelerate the investment process of these investors.

"We will decide later in October so that those who operate and also own Kertajati Airport, we hope that the traffic will be denser if there are investors from outside who participate in Kertajati Airport,"

President Widodo also hopes that a number of efforts that have been made by the government to increase flight activity at Kertajati International Airport can provide the best results. 

Moreover, the Cisumdawu Toll Road which will soon be inaugurated can shorten the travel time between Kertajati Airport and Bandung.

"I believe this airport will become a future airport with very heavy traffic," 

Also accompanying the President during the inspection were Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Minister of SOEs Erick Thohir, Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi, Governor of West Java Ridwan Kamil, and President Director of Angkasa Pura II Muhammad Awaluddin.
