FIFA Agrees to Use Four Stadiums for 2023 U-17 World Cup

Jakarta – FIFA has agreed that the 2023 U-17 World Cup in Indonesia will use four stadiums from previously eight proposed by PSSI (Football Association of Indonesia).

"These four venues are Jakarta International Stadium (North Jakarta), Si Jalak Harupat (Bandung Regency), Manahan (Solo), and Gelora Bung Tomo (Surabaya)," PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir said when met at Indonesia Arena on Monday. 

Thohir also explained why only four stadiums will be used for this prestigious event, "This  is because consider costs and logistics,"

Furthermore, Thohir said FIFA will visit Indonesia at the end of this month. Then, Thohir will meet with the Minister of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR), Basuki Hadimuljono, the Minister of Youth and Sports, Dito Ariotedjo, the Acting Governor of DKI Jakarta, Heru Budi Hartono, and the Governor of West Java, Ridwan Kamil to prepare for FIFA's arrival.

"FIFA will come again. Earlier, Mr. Hadimuljono told me that Jakpro will renovate Jakarta International Stadium (JIS) because it is an asset of the Jakarta Provincial Government, although the central government will help," he remarked.

As information, the 2023 FIFA U-17 World Cup will be the 19th edition of the FIFA U-17 World Cup, the biennial international men's youth football tournament contested by the under-17 national teams of the member associations of FIFA. It will be held in Indonesia from 10 November to 2 December 2023.
