President Invites Ambassadors to Experience MRT on ASEAN Anniversary

Jakarta – The Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) on Tuesday, invited several ASEAN ambassadors and partner countries to experience the railway-based public transportation MRT Service on the 56th anniversary of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
The Head of State and his entourage boarded the MRT from the Hotel Indonesia (HI) Roundabout Station to the ASEAN Station. Inside the MRT, President engaged in casual conversations with the ambassadors and ASEAN delegates.
Shortly after arriving at the ASEAN Station, the President and the ambassadors headed to the ASEAN building to participate in the celebration of ASEAN’s 56th anniversary.
Moreover, the Philippine Ambassador to ASEAN also congratulated ASEAN on its anniversary. He also encouraged people to use the MRT.
"I would like to wish the citizens of ASEAN member countries a happy ASEAN birthday. Thank you for this opportunity. I hope all of you can try the MRT,"

Prior to boarding the MRT, the President launched the “MRT ASEAN 56 and MRT Ride” Special Edition Jakarta MRT Multiple Roaming Card at the HI Roundabout Station by personally tapping in to mark the launch
The special edition card represents a collaboration between MRT Jakarta and ASEAN, commemorating the 56th ASEAN Day under the theme “56th ASEAN Day: The Epicentrum of Growth.”
Additionally, it also symbolizes the selection of MRT Jakarta as the official transportation partner for Indonesia’s chairmanship of ASEAN this year.
