Bakrie Launches North Aquatic Centre for Education-Sport Connection

Jakarta – The Chairman of Indonesian Aquatics, Anindya Novyan Bakrie launched the North Aquatic Center in Kelapa Gading, Jakarta, on Monday. This is to connect the education and the sports sectors.

The North Aquatic Center has a supporting area with facilities and infrastructure for swimming. This indoor swimming pool has international standards with various types of swimming pools.

"First of all, I congratulate all relevant stakeholders and also the promoters who have realized this North Aquatic Center," Anindya Bakrie said at Kelapa Gading, Jakarta, on Monday.

The North Aquatic Center is part of the facilities at Al Azhar Kelapa Gading School. However, anyone can become a member of the North Aquatic Center. 

Bakrie admits the North Aquatic Center can be a model for other schools that want to develop sports in education.

"I see that not only is the place nice, cool, and crowded but there are also many members.  This also can be a prototype for future sports development with partnerships with the world of education," Bakrie remarked. 

Bakrie also recognized the link between education and sports. Sports can build character or identity in an educational environment.

"On the other hand, sports need future new athletes that come from children at an early age." 

According to Bakrie, if sports coaching is good and accompanied by a good educational environment, then, the dream for the next 20 years can be obtained. 

"We have implemented it from our blueprint, we ask all parties to implement sports well in schools and supported by Aquatic Indonesia as a swimming organization," Bakrie stated. 

"I'm sure this will be a success and will be followed by other schools," 

Anindya Bakrie explained that swimming pool facilities such as those owned by the North Aquatic Center can at least increase interest in swimming.

"This can also make coaching easier. In the end, more achievements are helped. Like the SEA Age Group Championship yesterday, it can contribute more because there are new athletes born," he said.
