Jakarta – Based on data from the Health Ministry on Tuesday, there are 38 confirmed Monkeypox cases in Indonesia

"In total 38 people, 12 people recovered," said the Director of Surveillance and Health Karatina of the Health Ministry, dr Achmad Farchany told VIVA through an official message on Wednesday. 

Farchany further said of the 38 confirmed cases, 29 were found in Jakarta. Of these 29 cases, 9 people have been declared recovered.

Meanwhile, five cases were recorded in Banten. A total of two cases in Tangerang Regency are known to have recovered. Then, in South Tangerang City, there are two cases, and in Tangerang City, one case has been recovered. 

In addition, Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin also revealed about the transmission of monkeypox cases, where the transmission of this case isn't as fast as the Covid-19 spread. 

"The transmission is sexual. So, it's not as fast as Covid which is through sexual intercourse in certain groups. What we have to do is people in certain groups have sexual intercourse must be good. The procedure is good," the Minister remarked, in South Jakarta, on Wednesday. 

Minister Sadikin also stated that the government has also prepared 1,500 vaccines that have been distributed in certain areas. Later, this vaccine will be given to certain groups that have a high risk of being infected.

"The vaccine already exists, we have given 1,500 vaccines in certain affected areas because once again this is not given to certain groups. It must be given to certain groups," Minister Sadikin remarked.

In addition, the Minister also revealed that the government has also brought in medicine for monkeypox patients. 

"We already have the medicine, we have brought it in, it's good that no one died because it can be treated,"

As information, according to dr Achmad Farchany, of the vaccines that have been provided, 495 people have been vaccinated.
