Riyadh – The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit resulted in 31 powerful resolutions to end the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in the Gaza Strip, Indonesian Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi said.
"The messages in this resolution, in our opinion, are the strongest decision that the OIC has ever made so far," the Minister said in a statement in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on Monday.
Minister Marsudi emphasized that the resolution shows the unity of the OIC's stance on the situation in Gaza which is very frightening.
She mentioned several contents of the meeting's decision, including President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) and the leaders of OIC countries strongly condemned the Israeli aggression in Gaza.

"The leaders urged the United Nations Security Council to resolve so that atrocities can end immediately, aid can enter, and the importance of complying with international law," the Minister remarked.
The OIC Summit also urged the United Nations to pass a resolution condemning Israel's destruction of hospitals in Gaza. Several international forums will be used to hold Israel accountable, including through the ICC, ICJ, and the Human Rights Council, the Minister added.
Specifically for paragraph 11 of the resolution, the leaders mandated the Foreign Ministers of Saudi, Jordan, Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, Indonesia, and Nigeria to initiate actions on behalf of the OIC and the Arab League to stop the war in Gaza and start a political process to achieve peace.
"Paragraph 11 is a recognition from the OIC of Indonesia's active contribution in continuing to resolve the Palestinian issue, especially the situation in Gaza," the Minister stated.

In the resolution, the OIC summit condemned the forced displacement of 1.5 million Palestinians from northern to southern Gaza which according to the 4th Geneva Convention is a war crime, and condemned double standards in the application of international law.
The OIC encourages the start of a genuine peace process to achieve peace based on a two-state solution.
"The resolution also rejects proposals to separate Gaza from the West Bank including East Jerusalem, and affirms that Gaza and the West Bank are one entity,"
The resolution also activates the Islamic Financial Safety Net to provide financial, economic, and humanitarian support to the Palestinian government and UNRWA.
It's known that the OIC Extraordinary Summit on the situation in Gaza will be held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, on November 11, 2023. Initially, two separate summits were to be held consecutively, the Arab League Summit and the OIC Summit.
However, to give a strong message to the world, it was decided to combine the two summits into a joint summit.
This summit is crucial to demonstrate the solidity of OIC countries and seek additional efforts to stop Israeli atrocities against Palestinians.
