Jakarta – The Indonesian Transportation Ministry through the Directorate General of Railways (DJKA), ensures the readiness of the operation of 12 LRT Jabodebek trainsets starting Tuesday.
Director General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation, Risal Wasal said this could be done after there were an additional four trainsets, which had finished undergoing wheel turning.
Therefore, Wasal also ensured that the additional operation of these 12 trainsets would be able to shorten the waiting period (headway) between LRT trains.
Where before the headway between trains had lengthened, due to the turning process on the worn LRT wheels.
"Hopefully, this headway reduction can meet the expectations of people who choose LRT Jabodebek as public transportation because it is more efficient," Wasal said in a statement on Tuesday.
Regarding the wear conditions found on the LRT Jabodebek wheels, handling has been carried out by turning the wheels and smoothing the wheel surface profile.
As well as, providing lubricating fluid to the LRT Jabodebek.
"After grinding and lubrication, no wear was found on the wheels so that the 12 trainsets (TS) currently operating are in a safe condition," he said.
Wasal continued: "The process of turning and lubricating the wheels continues to be accelerated, and is expected to be completed soon. So that it can improve maximum service, to all LRT Jabodebek users,"
Moreover, Wasal plans to strive to accommodate the needs of LRT Jabodebek passengers.
"With the operation of 12 trainsets that will begin today, the total frequency of trips per day in each crossing, namely Bekasi and Cibubur, will be 80 trains, with a total overall travel frequency of 160 trains per day," Wasal remarked.
He hopes that the LRT Jabodebek can operate normally soon so that people can feel the great benefits from it.
"Where the purpose of its construction is intended to shift or move people who use private vehicles to mass transportation. Moreover, the existing mass transportation has also been integrated with various modes of transportation in Jabodetabek," he explained.
