IKN Nusantara Will Use Drones as Couriers

Kalimantan – The National Capital City Authority (OIKN) revealed that the package delivery to the IKN Nusantara community, East Kalimantan will use drone technology.
OIKN Green Transformation Director Agus Gunawan emphasized that package delivery using drones applies in all aspects, including the purchase of goods through e-commerce.Â
"Now in marketplace cities, e-commerce, or online traders use motorcycle couriers to deliver goods or orders to consumers. But soon at IKN Nusantara, package delivery will use a drone," Gunawan stated in Jakarta on Wednesday.Â

In addition to drones, the smart logistics system also applies other technologies, Gunawan remarked.Â
"Such as smart labels, Internet of Things systems in logistics, Artificial Intelligence (AI) enhanced supply chain analytics, and logistics tracking system technology," he explained.Â
Based on Presidential Regulation No. 63/2022 on the Details of the National Capital Master Plan, the National Capital can help implement innovative logistics or transportation strategies.Â
One is to promote environmentally friendly logistics solutions and adopt new technologies that support long-distance delivery innovations such as drones, and automated vehicles (AVs).Â
IKN Nusantara will also implement the concept of a freight forwarding/logistics strategy that aims to create an efficient logistics system that has minimal impact on city traffic and improves safety from a transportation aspect.Â
This is in line with the future logistics strategy to manage the movement of cargo and goods throughout the IKN Nusantara area in a way that reduces conflicts with passenger transportation, improves space utilization, and generates commercial benefits.Â
As information, the basic principle of developing the IKN area combines three urban concepts, namely IKN as a forest city, sponge city, and smart city.Â
The smart city concept is an overarching element in emphasizing the development of IKN as an Indonesian new capital city that is dynamic, inclusive, community-supported, and future-ready.
