Jakarta – Argentina ended the year 2023 by topping the FIFA rankings, while Indonesia crawled in the 148th rank in the world. As quoted from FIFA website on Tuesday, Argentina had not been displaced at the top of the FIFA rankings throughout 2023 while the Indonesian national team had experienced an up and down phase but showed a positive trend by rising three ranks compared to the rankings at the beginning of the year.
As of April, Tango team has not been displaced at the top of the FIFA rankings. Argentina ended the year with a total of 1855.20 points.

In second place is 2022 World Cup finalist France with 1845.44 points and in third place is England who moved up two places since April with 1800.05 points.
The Indonesian national team experienced a positive trend throughout 2023 with a total of 1064.01 points.
As of last April, the Indonesian team was ranked 149th in FIFA and closed out 2023 by moving up three places to 146th.
Throughout 2023, Indonesia had dropped to 150th in June and April. While the Indonesian national team's highest ranking increase occurred in October, by being ranked 145th.
With a collection of 1064.01 points, Indonesia is ranked fifth in the Southeast Asia zone in the FIFA ranking.
The two highest positions of ASEAN countries in the FIFA ranking are still occupied by Vietnam and Thailand.
Vietnam closed 2023 ranked 94th with 1235.58 points while Thailand ranked 113th with 1176.75 points.
In 2024, the Indonesian national team has a great opportunity to get additional points through the 2023 Asian Cup Qatar and the 2026 World Cup Qualifiers.
The FIFA ranking update will be carried out on February 15, 2024.
