Anindya Bakrie Inaugurates 480 Tuberculosis Rangers and SDGs Heroes

Jakarta – The Bakrie Center Foundation (BCF) along with collaborative internship partners and the Campus Leaders Program Batch 8 officially inaugurated 480 TB Rangers and SDGs Heroes selected online on Monday.

This internship and practicum program is an implementation of a national collaboration involving various sectors to accelerate the elimination of Tuberculosis (TB) by 2030 and, in general, achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in the areas of health, education, and environment.

Anindya Bakrie, Founder & Chairman of BCF conveyed that the Campus Leaders Program serves as a platform for youth to actively contribute to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.

"Students, along with mentors (practitioners from institutions) and lecturers (academics), conduct education, socialization, advocacy at the regional level, development of supporting technologies, socioeconomic empowerment, and echo SDGs campaigns on social media every semester," Bakrie said on Monday.

"Health is one of the pillars of the United Nations' SDGs. Indonesia has a significant task ahead to achieve TB elimination by 2030," he added.

Bakrie also inaugurated 480 TB Rangers & SDGs Heroes who will undergo internships and practicums in the Campus Leaders Program 8 for the next semester.

"Congratulations and good luck to all parties involved in accelerating the achievement of Indonesia's SDGs, especially to SDGs Hero students, TB Rangers students, mentors, and lecturers who are at the forefront in society," he explained.

As information, currently there are 1,091 youths who are students, 140 practitioners, and 70 academics from 24 partner universities and 102 other universities in Indonesia who have helped the community alongside BCF through internship, practicum, and volunteer programs.

In 2024, there will be more than 1,500 youths collaborating with various social institutions, universities, businesses, and media for the realization of sustainable development in Indonesia.

On the same occasion, Maxi Rein Rondonuwu, Director General of Disease Prevention and Control at the Indonesian Ministry of Health, representing the Minister of Health, expressed appreciation for the youth's contribution to TB management.

"The main task in TB control, besides continuously promoting prevention, treatment, and breaking the stigma surrounding TB, is to cooperate from various sectors to conduct TB screening. Case finding greatly helps in controlling Tuberculosis," Rondonuwu stated.
