Jakarta – Defense Minister Prabowo Subianto has received the 4-star general award from President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) during a break at the Indonesian National Army-Police (TNI-Polri) Leadership Meeting at the Ahmad Yani Sports Hall, TNI Headquarters, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
"This award is a form of appreciation for serving wholeheartedly to the people, to the nation, and to the State. I congratulate General Prabowo Subianto," President Jokowi remarked.
The Head of State bestowed a special promotion to Prabowo in accordance with Presidential Decree No.13/TNI/2024 dated February 21, 2024.

Along with this Presidential Decree, the special TNI promotion for Prabowo Subianto aligns with the current applicable Law, namely Law Number 20 of 2009.
In this Law, there are regulations regarding the appointment or special promotion.
Earlier in 2022, Prabowo Subianto had received four main military honorary titles: the Grand Star of Yudha Dharma, the Grand Star of Kartika Eka Paksi, the Grand Star of Jalasena, and the Grand Star of Swa Buwana Paksa.
"This is so that we all know that in 2022, Mr. Prabowo Subianto received the Grand Star of Yudha Dharma for his services in the defense sector, thus making an extraordinary contribution to the progress of the TNI and the country," President Jokowi explained.
Referring to the bestowal of these main military honorary titles, this special promotion should have been done two years ago.
The President also stated that the bestowal of the award had undergone verification by the Council of Titles, Awards, and Honors.
Career and Achievements in the Military of Prabowo Subianto
Throughout his military career, Prabowo has held several strategic positions, including Commander of the Special Forces and Commander of the Army Strategic Reserve Command.
Various achievements have been recorded by Prabowo in the military field, one was during his tenure as Commander of Kopassus through the Mapenduma Operation in 1996.
Prabowo Subianto's efforts and his troops' perseverance at that time resulted in the release of hostages from the hands of the Free Papua Movement (OPM).
Prabowo Subianto's endeavor to honor Indonesia internationally also occurred in 1997 when he was behind the brilliant idea of raising the Indonesian flag on the highest peak of Mount Everest.
