Jakarta – Easter Day is one of the religious days celebrated by all Protestant and Catholic Christians. It's also called Ascension Day of Jesus Christ and Resurrection Day of Jesus Christ which is celebrated every year.

Easter Day is held on the first Sunday after the first full moon on or after the point of the spring moon. Easter comes from the Latin Pascha and the Greek Pascha which means the main celebration of the Christian church, which celebrates the Resurrection of Jesus Christ on the third day after His Crucifixion.

Christian Easter has its roots in the Jewish celebration of Passover or Pesakh. It celebrates the liberation of the Israelites from slavery in ancient Egypt, as recorded in the book of Exodus in the Hebrew Bible.

The Christian celebration of Easter is also closely linked to the events recorded in the New Testament, particularly those relating to Jesus Christ.

According to New Testament records, Jesus was crucified on a Friday called Good Friday and rose from the dead on a Sunday called Easter Day.

On Good Friday, Jesus Christ was crucified on Golgotha Hill, experiencing suffering and death to atone for the sins of mankind. Three days later, on Easter Day, Jesus rose from the dead, confirming His victory over sin and death.
