Odd Even Traffic Not Valid in Jakarta on May Day Commemoration

Jakarta – The odd-even policy in Jakarta will not be valid on May Day or International Labor Day.

"The implementation of the Odd-Even System on May 1, 2024, is not valid," as quoted from the Jakarta Transportation Agency's Instagram account on Wednesday.

Therefore, both odd and even-numbered vehicles are free to roam around Jakarta without worrying about being fined for using a four-wheeled vehicle with a license plate number that does not match today's date, which is odd.



However, drivers are still requested to drive while adhering to traffic signs.



"To obey traffic signs, prioritize safety on the road, and follow the instructions of officers in the field," it added.

Previously reported, the two largest labor confederations in the country will celebrate International Labor Day or May Day on Wednesday, May 1, 2023.

The two organizations are the Confederation of All-Indonesian Workers Unions (KSPSI) led by Andi Gani Nena Wea and the Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions led by Said Iqbal.

Thousands of workers are expected to take to the streets to participate in the May Day commemoration in an orderly and peaceful manner.

Mass actions are estimated to be followed by 48.3 thousand workers, or nearly 50 thousand.

"A total of 48,300 worker will take massive action to take to the streets. We will ensure security and order during the May Day commemoration," said KSPSI President Andi Gani in a May Day 2024 press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday (April 30).
