This agreement was formalized in a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed by the President Director of Pertamina Nicke Widyawati and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Bakrie and Brothers, Anindya Bakrie, in Jakarta on Tuesday (March 26).

The MoU signing is a continuation of the Joint Statement of Collaboration signed at Stanford regarding a research collaboration plan in the sustainability sector, witnessed by President Jokowi in November.

Anindya Bakrie stated that the construction of the shared hub for the International Institute of Sustainability Indonesia (IISI) represents a joint commitment to advancing education and promoting green economic development in Indonesia.

The Bakrie Group has also expanded its business into sustainable ventures such as transportation electrification and renewable energy to support the government in achieving the Net Zero Emission target by 2060.

Meanwhile, Pertamina's President Director, Nicke Widyawati admitted Indonesia with its abundant natural resources and growing population, has significant potential to continue leading the energy transition in line with global trends.

"The national emission reduction target is concretely set at 31.89 percent by 2030, and with international support, the target can reach 43.20 percent," Widyawati concluded.
