Jakarta, VIVA – Chef de Mission (CdM) of the Indonesian contingent for the 2024 Paris Olympics, Anindya Novyan Bakrie, welcomed the arrival of the Indonesian contingent at the State Palace on Thursday (Aug 15).
He expressed that the athletes and coaches deserve appreciation for their tireless efforts and maximum dedication.
"Our athletes and coaches fought until the very last day. In fact, some of our athletes were still competing during the closing ceremony," Anindya Bakrie said.
He continued, "The achievement of two gold medals and one bronze is remarkable. It's been 32 years since we've won gold in a sport other than badminton,”
"It has resulted in our ranking rising from 55th to 29th. This is an extraordinary achievement, especially considering we are the only Southeast Asian country with a gold medal,"
Furthermore, Bakrie stated that this success was also because of the collaboration of all parties involved, from the government to the sports federations.
"This Olympics fostered cooperation between the government, NOC, Ministry of Youth and Sports, KONI, and the sports federations. Alhamdulillah, the results have been quite impressive at these Paris Olympics," he concluded.
