Jokowi’s Decade of Leadership Earns Strong Public Approval

Jakarta, VIVA – Over the past decade, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has been praised for his successful implementation of an Indonesia-centric development approach.
This strategy, focused on equitable development across all regions, has resulted in high public satisfaction, with a recent survey by Litbang Kompas in June 2024 showing 75.6% approval.
Prabu Revolusi, Director General of Public Information and Communication at the Ministry of Communication and Informatics, highlighted the key factors behind this widespread approval.
"Jokowi’s direct engagement with the people and his focus on infrastructure development, especially in underserved areas like NTT, have earned him immense public support," Prabu said during the Forum Merdeka Barat 9 discussion on October 4.
Jokowi's administration has notably shifted away from the historically Java-centric development model, prioritizing infrastructure projects in remote areas. This shift has brought new highways to regions like Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Papua, enhancing trade and mobility.
Despite early concerns about the potential economic risks, the government's strategy has ensured steady economic growth. "Economic growth has been maintained at an average of 5%, despite global economic uncertainty post-COVID-19," Prabu added.
Additionally, Jokowi's push for digital transformation has significantly improved internet access, boosting speeds from 2.4 Mbps a decade ago to 25 Mbps today.
This digital leap has positively impacted education, communication, and the economy, allowing more Indonesians to benefit from modern technology.
