700 Indonesian Police Officers to Move IKN in First Phase

Penajam Paser Utara, VIVA – The Indonesian National Police will relocate hundreds of its personnel to the new capital, Nusantara (IKN), East Kalimantan.
A total of 700 members will begin their duties at IKN between 2025 and 2029 as part of the first phase of allocation.
“We have already planned the relocation of police personnel, including civil servants. In the first phase, from 2025 to 2029, we will relocate 700 people,” said Head of Legal Affairs, Planning, and Strategy Bureau of the Indonesian National Police, Police Commissioner Benny Iskandar, on Thursday (Oct 10).
The headquarter of the Bhayangkara Corps at IKN will not be called the National Police Headquarters, but instead, the National Police Central Office.
He explained that the difference in the name of the police office is due to regulations.

“Our National Police Headquarters still stay in Jakarta, and the relocation will happen in stages. This is because we're assessing the infrastructure," he explained.
He added, "For example, when building a new capital city, like Putrajaya in Malaysia, it took 30 years to fully establish the necessary infrastructure,” he explained.
Iskandar mentioned that the 700 personnel will be relocated gradually in the first phase.
This is because, in IKN, the concern is not only about the duties of the personnel but also about their families, who will automatically move with them.
The 700 personnel in the first phase will represent all work units. They will be divided, with each echelon I official bringing their respective echelons.
“This is related to the state's capacity because the relocation of personnel to IKN has many implications,” he concluded.
