Prabowo's China Visit Yields $10 Billion in Multi-Sector Agreements

Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto bore witness to the signing of memoranda of understanding by Indonesian and Chinese corporations, with a total value of US$10.07 billion, in Beijing on Sunday (Nov 10).

"Chinese entrepreneurs' notable contributions to Asia act as a crucial element in our countries' close ties. I have met with the (Chinese) president and premier, and we all agreed to continue this collaboration," the head of state remarked at the Indonesia-China Business Forum 2024.

event that was organized by the China Committee of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), about 20 companies from Indonesia and China inked deals of cooperation in high-tech manufacturing, renewable energy, health, downstreaming, food security, and finance.

President Prabowo expressed optimism about Indonesia and China stabilizing Asia and promoting regional cooperation through their robust bilateral relationship.

"I need to prove that non-confrontational measures are the key to peace in this modern era. We (Indonesia) have remained impartial, respecting all of the world's great powers," he affirmed.

Furthermore, the head of state emphasized that Indonesia is poised to welcome more investments from China.

"And will exert all-out efforts to create a suitable (investment) climate, provide the finest facilities, and properly welcome our brothers and sisters from China," he told Chinese business players.

The president then called on stakeholders from Indonesia and China to work together to achieve mutual progress.

"Let us work for collaboration. Let us work for (mutual) understanding. Let us work for peace," he remarked.The president arrived in Beijing on Friday (Nov 8) for his inaugural state visit, at the invitation of his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.

On the following day, the two leaders held a bilateral meeting at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, where they discussed various issues, including those related to the economy, infrastructure, energy, and fisheries.

President Prabowo also met with Prime Minister Li Qiang, and Zhao Leji, chair of the National People's Congress, on the same day.
