Minister: MSME from State Bank's Customers Earn Debt Forgiveness Beneficial

Jakarta, VIVA – Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, revealed that 71,000 BRI customers have benefited from the debt forgiveness policy for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) initiated by President Prabowo Subianto.
The minister stated that this policy reflects the government's support for MSMEs. It's also in line with Government Regulation (PP) No. 47 of 2024 regarding the write-off of non-performing loans at state-owned banks.
"From our monitoring, the largest number of write-offs has been recorded by BRI. This figure was not noted earlier, but if I’m not mistaken, 71,000 people's debts have already been written off by BRI," the minister said at the BRI Microfinance Outlook 2025 event on Thursday (Jan 30).
Minister Hartarto added that as of September 2024, BRI had disbursed loans to MSMEs amounting to IDR 1,106 trillion. This year, the bank targets loan disbursements of IDR 300 trillion.

"BRI has already provided IDR 1,106 trillion in MSME loans. This year, the target is IDR 300 trillion for people's business loans (KUR), meaning the remaining portion falls outside the KUR category," he explained.
For reference, the bank debt forgiveness policy for MSME players in 2025 is expected to cover around 1 million businesses, with a total value of IDR 14 trillion.
"Our target is to clear the debts of around one million MSMEs so that they can start fresh and regain access to new loan facilities," said Minister of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), Maman Abdurrahman in the different occassion.
Minister Abdurrahman further explained that in the initial phase, 67,000 MSMEs would benefit from the program, with a total of IDR 2.4 trillion in debt being written off.
