President Prabowo Calls for TKDN Policy Reform

Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian President, Prabowo Subianto has ordered his administration to revise the regulations regarding the Domestic Component Level (TKDN).
He wants the TKDN regulations to be more flexible and realistic, in order to maintain the competitiveness of Indonesia's industries in the global market.
“TKDN is a good idea, a symbol of nationalism. But we have to be realistic. If TKDN is forced, we lose our competitiveness. I fully agree — TKDN should be made flexible, perhaps replaced with incentives instead,” the president said on Tuesday (Apr 8).

The head of state instructed all government officials, especially ministers, to revise TKDN policies to be more practical and not burdensome to domestic industries.
He emphasized that TKDN is not just a regulatory matter, but part of a broader issue.
“Please revise it. Make TKDN more realistic. The issue of domestic capability and local content is complex — it's about education, technology, and science. We can't just push it higher by regulation,” he stated.
