Prabowo Highlighted Historical Links with China

Jakarta, VIVA – Indonesian Prabowo Subianto, highlighted Indonesia's close relationship with the People's Republic of China (PRC), stating that a significant portion of Indonesia’s DNA also originates from China.
President Prabowo made the remarks during the Indonesia-China Business Reception held at the Shangri-La Hotel in Jakarta on Saturday (May 24).
The event was also attended by Chinese Premier Li Qiang.
The head of state stated that Indonesia and China have engaged in trade relations for hundreds of years.
“We're now witnessing a key moment in the history of relations between Indonesia and the People's Republic of China. Two great nations that have maintained friendship and trade ties for centuries,” President Prabowo remarked.
“Our relationship did not begin with the establishment of diplomatic ties. It dates back far longer, as evidenced by various achievements across our nation,” he continued.

The head of state also emphasized the historical depth of the friendship between the two countries.
According to him, Indonesia's genetic heritage also reflects ties with China.
“The voyages of Admiral Zheng He are still remembered today, and many monuments stand as a testament to our long-standing ties. I believe that a significant portion of Indonesia’s DNA comes from China,” he added.
“China was the first country I visited after being announced as President-elect of this nation.”
He also recalled how the Chinese government welcomed him warmly even before he officially took office.
“After I was sworn in, roughly three weeks later, the first country I visited officially as President of Indonesia was the People's Republic of China,” he stated
Then he continued, “I see Indonesia-China relations as highly strategic, extremely important, and full of promise. These relations can shape the peace and stability of our region."
