Bakrie Sumatera Plantations Reaches IDR 497 Billion in Q1 2025 Sales, Driven by Palm Oil

Jakarta, VIVA – The Bakrie Group's palm oil plantation issuer, PT Bakrie Sumatera Plantations Tbk (UNSP), booked a 5 percent year-on-year (yoy) sales increase to IDR 497 billion in the first quarter of 2025.

UNSP President Director, Bayu Irianto, said that this achievement was made alongside a 36 percent increase in gross profit to IDR 134 billion, a 392 percent increase in operating profit to IDR 48 billion, and a 249 percent increase in EBITDA to IDR 89 billion.

"Sales were supported by palm oil commodities with a sales value of IDR 453 billion, and rubber commodities at IDR 44 billion," he said on Monday.

He emphasized that the company continues to work hard to increase the productivity of its plantation assets, including through rejuvenation using superior seeds.

This is being done amid an increase in world CPO palm oil commodity prices, from a monthly average level of US$987 per ton CIF Rotterdam in Q1-2024 to a monthly average of US$1,232 in Q1-2025.

"Optimization of factory productivity is also carried out by purchasing palm oil fresh fruit bunches from farmers who do not own factories, while also helping their welfare," Irianto stated.

He also affirmed that the company will always adhere to the ISPO (Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil) protocol, which upholds principles of environmental friendliness and sustainability.

"Among them is the 'zero-burning' policy in conducting plantation activities," Irianto remarked.

According to him, sustainability aspects in the palm oil industry cover many people & planet aspects, such as improving farmers' welfare in line with Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) "no poverty."

"Then there is also 'zero-waste' in accordance with the Circular Economy, and 'no-deforestation' for greenhouse gas emission reduction for Climate Change," he concluded.
