VIVAnews – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has issued travel ban on five Indonesia’s Health Department officials and retirees, including former Health Minister, Ahmad Sujudi.
KPK spokesperson Johan Budi SP said on Wednesday, March 18, that the travel ban on five Health Department officials and retirees is aimed at accelerating the investigation into the alleged corruption in the department. “The travel ban started on March 4” he said.
Five other officials, namely Sri Astuti, Director of Non Communicable Diseases of Health Department Achmad Hardiman, former President Director of Kimia Farma Trading Gunawan Pranoto, former President Director of RJM Rinaldi Yusuf, and Suharno, were also banned from going abroad.
Director of Investigation at the Directorate General of Immigration, Muchdor, confirmed the travel ban on several Health Department officials and retirees. “The former Health Minister has been barred from traveling overseas since early March,” he said.
KPK is currently investigating three corruption cases at the Department of Health, including the alleged corruption in the procurement of medicines and medical equipments, occurred in 2003, 2005, and 2007, which have resulted in tens of billions rupiah in state losses.
